Zidane blasts journalists over his Real Madrid’s future
The Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane has lambasted journalists after the he was asked if he plans to stay at the club for several more years.
Zidane responded by telling the journalists in the Zoom call to beware of making assumptions.
The former France midfielder spoke during Saturday’s press conference ahead of the Real Madrid clash against Getafe this weekend.
The press conference got a little tense when the coach was time and time again asked about his future.
“You don’t know anything,” he said in response to one such question.
“You’ve said there’s a need to get rid of Zidane in the past, but I’m here. You can have a contract of four or five years and be gone tomorrow.
“Or the opposite could happen, where you have a contract that is about to expire and then you stay. There’s a lot of talks here, but that won’t change.
“I would like to talk [with the media] about football more than we do, but there seems to be more interest in other things. I know you all like football too!”
The manager was then asked about his good record in big matches and about the critics who say he is just a man-manager or that he enjoys lucky breaks.
He replied “Am I lucky? Yes, to be here at this great club. I don’t think I’m a disaster of a coach. I’m not the best either.
“I’m enjoying what I’m doing every day. This is a team that works hard. They’ve won a lot, but they always want more. For a coach, that’s phenomenal.”
