Uzodimma finally dissolves Imo council of traditional rulers
The Long anticipated dissolution of the Imo State council has finally happened.
The Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma made the announcement during a meeting at the Eze Imo palace in Owerri, with members of the council on Monday.
Speaking further the Governor promised to reconstitute the council very soon, but warned all the traditional rulers in the State that the era of “staying and living out side their domain is over”, while urging them to adhere strictly to the order to avoid the consequences that may follow. He also asked the monarchs to take seriously the security of their areas.
The now dissolved traditional council was headed by His Royal highness Eze Samuel Ohiri and he had been heading the organisation all through the regime of the rescue mission administration of former Governor Rochas Okorocha and the brief period of Hon. Emeka Ihedioha.
Since the Imo State House of Assembly passed a bill authorising the Governor to become the one to be appointing the head of the council, there has been several rumours and speculations that it has been dissolved, but the dissolution of the council on Monday has finally put those road side and unsubstantiated talks to rest.
