Unknown gunmen attack Oyedepo’s Winners Chapel, kidnap members
Gunmen yet to be identified, but who were suspected to be bandits have attacked a branch of Living Faith Church Worldwide also known as Winners Chapel at Osara community, along Lokoja-Okene road in Adavi Local Government Council of Kogi State.
It gathered that the kidnappers, who invaded the church premises when some of its members were rehearsing during the weekend, abducted at least three members.
The assailants were said to have stormed the area, shooting sporadically to scare away interveners before whisking the victims to an unknown destination.
Joseph Omuya Salami, the Chairman of Adavi Local Government Council, confirmed the development to newsmen on Monday evening through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Habeeb Jamiu.
According to him, the chairman had visited the scene in company of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Osara Division since the incident occured.
Habeeb Jamiu added that the council was working with security agents in the area to ensure that the victims are rescued unhurt.
The Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Williams Ovye Aya, had not answered calls for comment as at press time.
