Ukrainian confirms destroying Russian ship near Snake Island in Black sea
Ukraine on Saturday disclosed that it had destroyed another Russian ship near Snake Island in the Black Sea. An armed drone had destroyed a Serna project landing craft and a missile defence system on the small island under Russian control.
Ukraine’s armed forces released footage to show a Russian landing ship being destroyed near the island in the Black Sea. A missile launched from a Ukrainian drone, a Bayraktar TB2, destroyed the Russian warship.
“Ukrainian Bayraktar TB2 destroyed another Russian ship. This time the landing craft of the “Serna” project. The traditional parade of the Russian Black Sea fleet on May 9 this year will be held near Snake Island – at the bottom of the sea,” said the Defence of Ukraine in a tweet.
The overhead footage in black and white showed a drone striking the vessel with debris spilling outwards and engulfing it in flames.
In another tweet, the Ukrainian military also claimed that two anti-aircraft missile systems, “Tor” were hit by the Bayraktar TB2 national strike fleet.
Last month, Ukraine said that it had achieved a major victory as one of Russia’s most important and potent warships suffered massive damage after a missile attack. Ukraine said two Neptune anti-ship missiles were fired to target the leading Russian Slava-class Moskva warship.
