Tuchel speaks on Lukaku’s performance during Chelsea vs Man City game
Thomas Tuchel, the Chelsea boss, has given his verdict on Romelu Lukaku’s performance in his side’s Premier League 1-0 defeat to Manchester City on Saturday afternoon at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea suffered their first defeat of the new Premier League season following Gabriel Jesus’ second-half strike to give Pep Guardiola’s side all three points.
Lukaku failed to register a shot on goal against Man City during the encounter.
But Tuchel believes Lukaku, who has scored four goals in seven games since returning to the west London club, was not to blame for Chelsea’s struggles in attack against City.
“I don’t think it is necessary to talk about Romelu [Lukaku] struggling today when we reached Romelu the attack was already half over because there were not enough people and there was simply no belief and connection,” Tuchel said at his post-match press conference.
“It was a team problem, not an individual problem.”
Chelsea’s next game is against Juventus in the Champions League on Wednesday.
