Bashar al-Assad, the Syrian President and his wife, Asma al-Assad, have tested positive for the dreaded coronavirus disease.
In a short statement from the Syrian presidency, it was disclosed that Assad and his wife, Asma al-Assad, developed mild symptoms consistent with COVID-19.
The statement further revealed that the President and his wife took PCR tests which came out positive.
The statement, however, said both Assad and his wife are in a good condition and will be working from home during the next two to three weeks, the presidency said.

It urged all Syrians to follow preventive measures against coronavirus.
“President al-Assad and Mrs Asma salute the medical staff working on the front lines to confront the virus and mitigate its effects for all those affected,” the statement said
