Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the Manchester United manager, has identified captain, Harry Maguire, as the player that led his team to defeat Newcastle United 4-1 in the Premier League on Saturday night.
Speaking further, Solskjaer said that Maguire was inspirational during the match against Newcastle, adding that the defender leads by example.
Recall that Maguire, who has endured a difficult start to the Premier League season, scored to help Man United clinch an emphatic victory at St James’ Park.
Others who scored for the Red Devils include Bruno Fernandes, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Marcus Rashford.
“Of course the last result [a 6-1 defeat to Tottenham] made [today] even bigger,” Solskjaer told a pre-match press conference after the game.
“I thought we showed great resilience and great character to come back. I thought we handled that setback really well and were led by a very inspirational captain.”
Solskjaer added: “I thought he was excellent. He scores a goal, and he leads by example.
“He’s always a very good character around the place, and I’m very happy for him because he’s had a couple of difficult weeks since the last game for us.”
