Pfizer-BionTech COVID-19 vaccines get NAFDAC approval for use
The Pfizer-BionTech COVID-19 vaccines have been approved by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control for emergency use in Nigeria.
The Director-General of NAFDAC, Prof Mojisola Adeyeye made the announcement on Friday in Lagos State.
The DG said the vaccines were approved only for emergency use in the country.
She noted that it can be stored between -15oC to -25oC equivalent to freezer temperature.
At the moment the COVID-19 vaccine in use in Nigeria is the AstraZeneca one, which was manufactured by the Serum Institute of India (SII) and shipped via the COVAX Facility, a partnership between CEPI, Gavi, UNICEF and WHO.
