Most Rev Ugorji formally installed as new Archbishop of Owerri
The former Bishop of Umuahia diocese, Most Rev Lucius Ugorji has formally been installed as the new Archbishop of Owerri, thereby replacing the retiring Most Rev Anthony Obinna.
The installation ceremony was held at the Assumpta Cathedral Owerri on Thursday, with a mass to usher in the new era.
In attendance were over 40 Bishops from within and outside Nigeria.
Addressing the congregation, the Imo State governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma praised the outgoing Archbishop Obinna for what he described as his aggressive envegelism during his tenure and wished him well in retirement.
The governor also prayed for Archbishop Ugorji to succeeded and to even do better than his predecessor.
In his brief address, Archbishop Ugorji thanked everyone present, with special appreciation to Rev AJV Obinna for the good things he had done in the Archdiocese.
