Mahrez blasts PSG players after losing 2-0 to Man City
Riyad Mahrez, the Manchester City winger, has slammed Paris Saint-Germain players following his side’s Champions League semi-final second leg 2-0 victory against the Ligue 1 champions on Tuesday at Etihad.
Mahrez said PSG players lost their ‘nerve’ during the encounter and started ‘kicking’ his Man City teammates.
It was Mahrez’s who csored the two goals to ensure Pep Guardiola’s side defeated PSG and qualified for the Champions League on a 4-1 aggregate win, having won the first-leg 2-1 in Paris last week.
Recall that after Man City’s second goal, Angel Di Maria was sent off for violent conduct, and three other PSG players received yellow cards.
“It was a very good game,” Mahrez said in his post-match press conference.
“We didn’t start well again – we didn’t have a good first half, but we got the goal and we were more comfortable.
“We played well in the second half, and we could have scored more. They lost their nerve and started to kick us and after the red card, it was more comfortable.

“It wasn’t the game plan to counter-attack, but they had to come at us and maybe at times we were a bit deeper and we were good on the counter. That’s how the two goals came about and we are happy.”
