Jonathan expresses condolences over Jerry Rawlings’s death

Ex-Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan has mourned Jerry Rawlings.

Recall that the former President of Ghana died on Thursday at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

Jonathan in a statement extended his condolences to the government and people of Ghana.

He said as Ghana’s leader, the deceased acquitted himself as a soldier of the masses and crusader for social justice.

Jonathan called Rawlings a courageous statesman and a great Pan-Africanist with strong views and drive for the continent’s renaissance and growth.

“He died at a time the continent needed his wisdom and experience to deal with challenging socio-political issues”, the statement read. The former Nigerian leader prayed God to grant Rawlings’s soul eternal rest.
