Imo Governor, Uzodinma condemns Edo election

The Imo State Governor and the Deputy Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, National Campaign Council for Edo poll, Senator Hope Uzodinma has claimed that the entire Edo State gubernatorial exercise was marred by irregularities from officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The Imo Governor condemned the electoral Commission and accused some its officials of sabotaging the nation’s electoral system making it difficult for APC votes to count.

He applauded the Governorship Candidate of the APC in Edo, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, for his resilience and doggedness.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Sunday, declared Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, winner of Saturday’s governorship election in Edo State.

Prof. Akpofure Rim-Rukeh, INEC’s Returning Officer for the election, declared Obaseki winner of the election after polling a total of 307,955 votes to humble his closest challenger, Ize-Iyamu of the APC, who polled a total of 223,619 votes

However, Uzodinma in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Oguwike Nwachuku on Monday, described the conduct of INEC officials in the Edo Governorship Election as ‘shameful’.

The Governor further urged APC faithful and party supporters to remain calm and law-abiding, saying that what happened in Edo State is sabotage to Nigeria’s hard-worn Democracy.
