Imo former Governor, Rochas Okorocha arrested
The former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, was arrested on Tuesday in Abuja.
He was picked up at his private office by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Wilson Uwujaren, the EFCC Head of Media, confirmed the development.
At the moment, the reason for the arrest is not known yet, but the Senator reportedly failed to honour invitations by the agency.
Many people in Imo including Governor Hope Uzodinma had severally accused Okorocha of misappropriating state funds.
Recall that some of his properties were sealed by the EFCC during the Ibrahim Magu tenure, but much was not heard of the matter after that time.
The lawmaker had also in February accused the state governor of unleashing the EFCC and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) against him.
Okorocha said the state government had not been able to prove corruption allegations against him and family in court.
“I was never a poor man before I became governor of Imo state. I came here, brought my children to invest, brought everybody to invest”, he had said.
