Governors of Nigeria schedule emergency meeting

 An emergency meeting for governors in Nigeria has been scheduled for Thursday.

It was gathered that the meeting was called to deliberate on the COVID-19 vaccination and distribution in Nigeria.

Spokesman for the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Abdulrazaque Bello-Barkindo, said the meeting would be held virtually.

“The meeting is of a single-item agenda, which will discuss the delivery of the COVID-19 vaccines and their distribution in the country,” he confirmed.

Bello-Barkindo announced that the meeting, according to the invitation sent to the governors, would commence at 5 p.m.

The federal government received 3.92 million doses of Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine on Tuesday.

The COVID-19 vaccine was shipped into Nigeria via the COVAX Facility.

The partnership is between Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), GAVI – the Vaccine Alliance, United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and World Health Organization (WHO).
