Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission EFCC came after the former Chairman of Board of Internal Revenue, Pastor Henrietta Jacobs, but on arriving the anti-corruption agency discovered that she had already escaped to the United States.
The operatives fist point of call was her Church which is located at Ikenegbu area of Owerri town, on getting there she was nowhere to be found, that led the EFCC to move to her residence at the Egbeda axis of the metropolis.
The gate to her house was locked, but after several knockings at the entrance, it was eventual opened and the operates went in, only to be told by the workers in the premises that their boss had travelled to the United States a couple of days ago.
But in spite of her absence, the officers decided to take inventory of the things they met at the compound, including government vehicles.
The presence of the EFCC operatives attracted a lot of people, including many of those living close to the ex-Internal Revenue Chairman. Most of them expressed surprise at what they described as corrupt practices of a woman, well known and respected as a pastor.
Unfortunately also, some others who continued to discuss the issue even after the operatives had left accused the former Revenue Board Chairman of using her Church activities just to cover up her misdeeds.
