Former Chief of Naval Administration dies from COVID-19 complications

A onetime Chief of Naval Administration, Retired Rear Admiral Joseph Omozuwa Aikhomu has died from COVID-19 complications on Thursday.

The late Aikhomu, who died at the age of 65, was the younger brother to Admiral Augustus Aikhomu (rtd), former military Vice President to Ibrahim Babamosi Babangida (IBB).

He was the chairman of Ocean Marine Solutions (OMS), which his late brother founded with Captain Hosa Okunbo.

Aikhomu was also a member of the investigative panel on arms procurement between 2007 and 2015 set up by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Chief of Naval Administration was an expert on maritime operations and logistics in the Gulf of Guinea.

Aikhomu hailed from Irrua in Edo State. He was a traditional title holder.
