First batch of COVID-19 vaccines arrive Zimbabwe

The first batch of coronavirus vaccines, has been received in Zimbabwe, this is according to President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

“The first batch of vaccines for Zimbabwe has been successfully delivered. We start vaccinating Zimbabweans this week!

 “The faster our country is protected against this virus, the faster Zimbabwe’s economy can flourish,” Mnangagwa tweeted.

In a very unfortunate situation, four government ministers in the country have already died of coronavirus, prompting the country to further tighten lockdown measures.

Media reports, have also indicated that several other cabinet ministers are fighting for their lives in a private hospital.

John Mangwiro, the deputy health minister said, “We are in a dark cloud that we have to clear very soon”.

The Minister made known the plans to intensify the current lockdown, which has been in place since the beginning of the year and this includes a strict nightly curfew.

At the moment, restaurants, bars, and gyms have been forced to close.

More than 30,500 cases have been recorded in Zimbabwe, with over 960 deaths.
