As at Friday, the number of COVID-19 related deaths in Africa has reached 100,294.
It was the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that provided the figure, which is calculated from the first Coronavirus was recorded on the continent in February 2020.
The African Disease Control agency said the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Africa so far was 3,796,354.
At the moment South Africa has reported the highest number of deaths – 48,708. The country is followed by Egypt, at 10,201, and Morocco, at 8,524.
The southern Africa region is the area most affected by COVID-19 in terms of confirmed cases.
The CDC Africa added that a total of 3,346,404 infected people have recovered.
Nigeria has so recorded more than 150,000 cases and 1,800 deaths.
While globally, there have been 111 million cases of coronavirus and 2.45 million deaths.
