Following the fatal motor accident on Akaeze-Ukwu River, which resulted in the death of several persons on Friday night, the Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari has formally offered his condolences to the government and people of Ebonyi State.
It was gathered over the weekend that scores of passengers died after a bus conveying mourners plunged into the river.
The President in his condolence said, “We are saddened and aggrieved at this colossal loss of human lives”.
He equally added that the thoughts and prayers of the government and people of Nigeria are with the families of the victims of this accident.
He commended the Ebonyi State government in spearheading the rescue and recovery efforts as well as the support it has received from the neighbouring state governments in that regard.
