Boko Haram attack on Borno Gov’s convoy, attracts Gov. Ortom’s reaction

Samuel Ortom, the Benue State Governor, has condemned the attack on the convoy of Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, in which about 15 persons were feared dead and others injured.

Ortom’s reaction to the incident which reportedly left over 30 persons dead, was contained in a statement on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase.

Recall that twelve policemen, 13 civilians and 5 soldiers were killed during the attack.

It was while the convoy was heading to Baga town ahead of government’s plan to return internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Maiduguri to Baga, that the incident occurred around 2pm.

Also the gunmen also seized and carted away one police armoured car, one gun truck belonging to the military and six government vehicles.

In his reaction Governor Ortom sympathized with his Borno State counterpart and described the attack as shocking and unfortunate.

He expressed optimism that Governor Zulum will not be deterred by the reprehensible ambush as he continues to work with security agencies to restore peace to all parts of his state.

 Ortom condoled with families of those who lost their lives in the attack and prayed God to grant their souls eternal rest.
