The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has formally reacted to the assassination attempt on the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, by a group of gunmen.
APC, while condemning the attack, warned Nigerians against politicizing the crime.
The National Secretary of APC Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee CECPC, Sen. John James Akpanudoedehe, stated this in a statement.
Akpanudoedehe applauded security operatives for repelling the attack on Ortom.
According to him: “We thank God for his safety and praise the dutiful security details for repelling the attack.
“We are confident our security services will do everything to unravel the criminals behind the attack and bring them to book.
“The APC reiterates that we must all collaborate to end criminality in all forms. A crime is a crime and should not be politicised in any way”.
Ortom was attacked in his farm at Tyo-mu village, along Makurdi – Gboko road.
The Governor disclosed that he ran a distance of 1.5km to escape being caught by the rampaging gunmen, giving credit to his security men for being able to quell the attack.
